Omron HJ-112 Digital Premium Pedometer

Omron HJ-112 Digital Premium PedometerBrand: Omron
Category: Health And Beauty

5 out of 5 stars It's the Best! October 25, 2008
I bought the omron pedometer for my husband and myself last Valentine's day, (for our hearts, don'tcha know.) It has been a fine investment and we have been very pleased with the ease of operation (it works IN your pocket, which means it's harder to lose or fall in the toilet, it resets its own self at midnight.) I have since bought 3 more for my son, mom, and sister. I am about to buy 5 more for gifts.

5 out of 5 stars Great Pedometer October 24, 2008
I really love this pedometer. The best one I have purchased. Easy to use, love that I don't have to hang it from my waist.
Well worth the price. Also Omron is a good product.
I have and will recommend this pedometer to family and friends.

5 out of 5 stars Great pedometer October 24, 2008
I've been searching for a pedometer that is as awesome as this one for years!

Features I love the best:
* works in a purse/pocket as well as on your hip
* Large readout, easy to read
* auto calculates mileage
* Stores a week's worth of step days, so if you forget to write one down it's easy to go back.
* super easy to program!

I've had mine for 6 months and the batter is still going strong.

5 out of 5 stars It's big, but great October 24, 2008
According to Dr. Oz and You: Staying Young: The Owner's Manual for Extending Your Warranty (You), walking 30 minutes a day is a critical aspect of taking care of your body as well as working up to 10,000 steps a day ... so this was one of several products I purchased I as I implemented the Staying Young program.

This pedometer is much larger than any other pedometer I've owned (I've had a few over the years) and I don't particularly care for the size, but it wallops a great punch of features that have made it worthwhile ...

1. This is the easiest one ever to set-up, read, review, etc.

2. It can tell when you're 'walking around' versus 'really walking' -- It tracks all your steps regardless of intensity but it also and tracks a second category as aerobic steps (you just hit the lowest middle 'mode' button to read this subset information). It also tells you distance and calories burned.

3. It resets itself to 0 every morning and has a seven day memory.

4. The belt clip that comes with it is secure and easy to use.

If you are making a commitment to better health and it involves a walking program of any kind, I think this would be a great enhancement to your commitment and success.

Bon Appetit!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome October 24, 2008
My daughter and I both got one of these. It's so fun to see how many steps you actually take in a normal day! It's been fun to use! It even shows you how many calories you are burning. We love it! Now my hubby wants one!

$359.00 Kindle: Amazon's Wireless Reading Device

Kindle: Amazon's Wireless Reading DeviceCustomer Reviews: Read 4990 more reviews...

4 out of 5 stars I like the Kindle October 17, 2008
After reading the reviews about the Kindle I decided to try it out. I like to read but don't like the bulk of books. I wanted to be able to take one or more books with me. So, the Kindle was a no brainer. I was worried a bit about some of the bad ratings but I'm a gambler.

After having my Kindle for about 2 months, I LOVE IT! No bulky books to carry around with me. Easy to use (but there is some learning to do). Yes, the buttons aren't perfectly placed so my biggest problem is that I seem to turn pages when I didn't mean to. Get used to it. It happens. Just hit the 'previous page' button and you're back.

Love the newspapers and the magazines. It's not like the real thing but if you want the news, you've got it. And it's all in a small, lightweight unit. I live in the country and the Whispernet, through Sprint, works great. Whole books download in seconds. You can bookmark and highlight to you heart's content. One of my favorite features is the built-in dictionary. Simple to use.

Lots more good than bad. I'd recommend it to anyone. But be careful. It just might make an avid reader out of you.

Thanks Amazon. I'm hooked for life.

5 out of 5 stars Best gift ever! October 17, 2008
I Bought the Kindle for my wife one year ago. She was always wanting to go to the book store. Watching the book pile up I thought I would get her this. Man this is the best thing Ive ever bought her! Shes used it every day for the last year. She takes it with us on trips and cant seem to stop talking about how much she enjoys it. Shes always happy to share info about the unit. Shes even gone so far to suggest Colleges she use the Kindle and kids would have a lot less to pack around. It might even save high book cost's. If anyone is on the fence about this item, no worries! This thing rocks!

5 out of 5 stars I'm Very Pleased with my Kindle October 17, 2008
I am very pleased with my Kindle. I'm still learning what all I can do on it. So far, it has met all my expectations. I suffer from severe rheumatoid arthritis and was finding it very difficult to hold my books while reading because of painful fingers. (had to use a pillow to hold Duma Key)

The downloads are very fast and it is still charged from the hour I had it plugged in the day it was delivered. I read for a couple hours every night, sometimes a lot more. I do not use the book holder because it just adds weight.

I would recommend this to my friends who love to read as much as I do. I also like to be able to make the font larger. My eyes are not so good as I am diabetic and need large print books.

Thanks Amazon for a great product.

This is a great product. I am finding it easy to use even when I don't read the instructions. It was so handy when I wanted to read in the airport, on the plane and at my destination. When someone extols a book they are reading, I question them carefully, consider who they are, and if they pass the test, I order the book on the spot before I forget the title. Several friends who like toys are also interested after seeing my Kindle in action.

3 out of 5 stars Where do I hold this thing? October 17, 2008

Lets keep this simple.

Postive: The text appearance is great. Very easy on the eyes. Almost like reading from a book.

Negative: It is very uncomfortable to hold and read. There are very large buttons on both sides and the bottom. Why? It's like its made for a gorilla to change the page. Every where you touch to casually grab the thing it turns the page or worse. Did they test this thing before they mass produced it? Oh, wait... As an early buyer I was the tester. I'm hoping to send it back and buy one when they have the ergonomics figured out.

Alfred Hitchcock - The Masterpiece Collection (Psycho / Vertigo / Rear Window / The Birds / Shadow of a Doubt / Family Plot / Frenzy / The Man Who Kne

Alfred Hitchcock NYWTS5 out of 5 stars A Great Set to Own...
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

This collection comes in a beautiful velvet box with a booklet outlining the 14 films included in the collection. It pains me to give my favorite director's films anything less than 5 stars since some of his greatest creations are in this collection. However, I'm rating the box set and a box set like this should have expanded greatly on what is already available instead of just repackaging previously released DVDs.

So, what do you get for your $85.00? If you don't own all or most the 14 films included in this collection, you get the films and the extra features in one collection. But, if you already own these Universal DVDs, the answer is "not much."

I already owned all of these films on Universal DVD so as far as I can surmise after going through my newly purchased box set, my $85 gets me about an hour's worth of additional material. On the bonus disc you get the "AFI Salute to Alfred Hitchcock" (15 minutes long) and "Masters of Cinema," a 30 minute interview with Hitch. On the Vertigo disc you get the alternate foreign ending (about 5 minutes long). The Psycho disc is the only disc where Universal added any new extra features. You get something called the "Psycho Archives," which is basically just a collection of photographs and a few other minor features (more photos and storyboards and some newsreel footage about the release of Psycho) that are not on the original DVD. Strangely, the documentary, "The Making of Psycho," which is on the original Psycho DVD is on the bonus disc as is "All About the Birds," which is on the original The Birds DVD. All of the other 12 discs are practically identical to the previous Universal DVD releases.

One nuisance with the packaging is that there are multiple discs in each case. There are four cases within the box: the first three cases have four discs each and the fourth has two films plus the bonus disc. This means that the collection is really an "all or nothing" deal. You can't buy it and then resell the films you already have. In my case, the only thing really worth keeping is the bonus disc and maybe a few of the new extras on Psycho.

So, if you don't have these films-or you only have a few of them-this may be a good way to go about collecting them. If you already have these films, you'll have to decide if $85 is a good price for about an hour's worth of additional material wrapped in a pretty velvet box.

5 out of 5 stars Two Versions...Now Amazon has the better at a fantastic price September 28, 2008

When I bought this a week ago Amazon's version was inferior to the other version offered DVD Empire...now its the same (significantly better of the two)...at around half their already excellent price...A MUST BUY, particularly thru Amazon at this AMAZING price. For me I wasted $70 but don't regret it...you no longer have to.

Although I haven't seen all the movies in this collection yet, "The Birds" "Psycho" "Rear Window" and "The Trouble With Harry" are all outstanding movies. I can't wait to see the rest of them!!

Excellent packaging and collection of Alfred Hitchcock movies. This is a great buy if you like classic films. It also looks very nice in your collection with the velvet box set.

5 out of 5 stars The transcend 16GB October 6, 2008
I have all my importan documents on one place, the transcend 16GB easy to keep, read and the most importan, they are secure.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing storage capacity October 6, 2008
We are taking pictures nonstop and glad we haven't even come close to "disk full" like our old chip. Just note, that given the robust capacity, sometimes difficult to offload in any computer store given the mammoth capacity of this card and high byte capacity.

4 out of 5 stars Plenty of space, low cost... great buy! October 6, 2008
I purchased the Transcend because I wanted to test the speed compared to my Sandisk Extreme III (until now I was a loyal Sandisk customer, but the prices are too high compared to competition). I used the 16gb Transcend 133x in my Canon EOS 1D Mark III, fine jpeg, at 10fps and I didn't see much of a difference in the write speed, if any. I did see a small difference in the read speed when copying files from my card to my Mac Pro...but not enough of a difference to warrant it being triple the cost. I see no reason to spend the extra $$ on Sandisk and will start using Transcend. Don't get me wrong, I do own a $4500 camera and a $5000 Mac Pro, so spending money for better products is something I'm very willing to do, but I just can't justify it in this case.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Value - but be careful where you order it from... October 5, 2008
I purchased this package (Transcend 16GB SDHC CARD with Compact Card Reader) from Amazon.com about two months ago. The SD card was meant to be used in my Canon S5 camera. But I soon discovered that it works extremely well in the included card reader as an USB flash drive. So I ended up using it mainly for data backup and transfer between my laptop and desktop computers.

So far, the card has proven to be fast and reliable. As first I was skeptical about its speed rating of 'class 6' (which means minimum 6MB/S in writing). But my own benchmark showed that this card is actually capable of writing at 11.5MB/S - nearly twice its specified minimum data transfer rate. Just for reference, the Sandisk Ultra II card claims a transfer rate of 15MB/S, but it costs about twice as much.

Based on my favorable experience, I recently ordered the same package from TheMemStore. To my surprise, this time I received only the SD card and no card reader (check my Customer Image to see the two different packages). Another difference I noticed is that the first package from Amazon was made in Taiwan, whereas the second one from TheMemStore was made in China. Perhaps this explains why several reviewers have reported poor reliability with this card?

Considering its low cost, this Transcend card is an excellent buy. But please make sure that you order it from a reputable vendor only.

5 out of 5 stars Works as it is supposed to. October 4, 2008
I bought this card to use in my Canon HF100 video camera and it works flawlessly. In addition, transferring video to the computer is fast and I can even edit video directly from the card with Sony Vegas Pro 8. If you find a good price on this card I suggest buying it.
